On July 27, 1997, the University of Mississippi Libraries' Department of Archives & Special Collections unveiled a multi-case exhibition entitled, "A Faulkner 100: The Centennial Exhibition." This display coincided with the 1997 Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference, whose theme "Faulkner at 100: Retrospect and Prospect," commemorated the centennial year of the author's birth. The exhibition included one hundred archival items chosen from the University's Faulkner collections by Dr. Thomas Verich, University of Mississippi Archivist. Dr. Verich described the aims of the exhibition in the accompanying catalog as being, "to select printed materials unique to the University of Mississippi's collections...to choose pieces that relate to the city of Oxford, to the extended Faulkner family, and especially to Faulkner's association with The University of Mississippi."
Featured below is the front cover from the exhibition's catalog, which was limited to 500 copies and included an original contribution from author Gabriel García Márquez.
